The Murmuration is an open access crowdsourcing project designed to collect information to improve birding safety and accessibility at eBird hotspots in Massachusetts and to help make birding more inclusive. BBC members and other birders throughout the state are encouraged to contribute information on a Google Spreadsheet, called the Murmuration, that includes categories for trail and trailhead descriptions, ideal seasons and notable species, accessibility, safety concerns, and descriptions of parking and trail conditions that will be helpful to people with disabilities or mobility issues. The project is explained in full in the article “The Murmuration” in the December 2020 issue of the New England journal Bird Observer, available with open access on the Bird Observer website at http://bit.ly/BirdObs. The article can be downloaded from the website as a PDF and contains a link to enter data on the Google Spreadsheet.
