Checklist Comments:    Sandy Oxley and Rita Grossman co-led walk for the Boxborough Birders and the Brookline Bird Club with a balanced turnout from both.  Sunny and calm.  Overall, a quiet morning.

Red-tailed Hawk  1

Red-bellied Woodpecker  2

Downy Woodpecker  1

Northern Flicker  3

woodpecker sp.  1    Seen in the woods without good lighting or duration.  Probably a hairy wp, but, could not confirm.

Eastern Phoebe  9    A robust population over entire property.

Blue Jay  16

American Crow  3    Based on ones seen and heard.  Most likely more.

Common Raven  2    1 seen early in walk and pair seen at end by 1/2 the group.

Black-capped Chickadee  8    Conservative count.

Tufted Titmouse  8

White-breasted Nuthatch  9

Carolina Wren  6    2 heard very clearly on main campus near parking area/buildings; 2 at New Meadow and 2 heard calling back and forth west of lower campus in the woods.  Everyone noted their population seems to be quite robust and many noted observations elsewhere.

European Starling  25    Best estimate with low fly-over.

Gray Catbird  10    Robust population throught campus.

Eastern Bluebird  10    Conservative count.

American Robin  7    Based on ones seen.  Dense canopy likely obscuring many more.

House Sparrow  12    On main campus near main building and parking lot.

blackbird sp.  85    Approximate count of high fly-over.

Black-and-white Warbler  1    Seen clearly by two.

new world warbler sp.  1    Two of us got a brief, but good glance at a small yellow warbler with a black eyeline which appeared to be a blue-winged warbler darting into the top 1/3 of canopy on deciduous trees between Shaker House and Fruitlands Museum.  They usually leave ~ 3rd week in September and have bred here.  One was seen in Worcester Co. on 9/10/24.  Could not definitively confirm as was not seen again.  Could not get a photo.
