Bolton Flats WMA–Pine Hill Rd. Grasslands, Worcester, Massachusetts, US
Jun 22, 2024 5:49 AM – 11:04 AM
Protocol: Traveling
2.5 mile(s)
Checklist Comments: Brookline Bird Club -Pine Hill Rd. Grassland – Leader: Kathy Dia – Misty weather early, and mild temperatures, upper 60’s to low 70’s F, after a very hot week (upper 90’s F ). We had a large number of Grasshopper Sparrows, but no Vesper Sparrows. The surprise of the day was a young Black Bear on Pine Hill Rd. as we walked to the pond near the entrance! One person in the group mentioned that this is the time of year that two-year old males disperse from their mother, and perhaps that was the case with this bear.
