Grasshopper Sparrow  1    Thin, high-pitched trill. Heard dozens of times. From some vantage points, the singer could be seen singing, perched, or flying low in short flights over the field. The bird was strongly backlit, so visual fieldmarks were not obvious. However pudgy size/shape and lack of dark streaking on breast was apparent.
Savannah Sparrow  12    many singing, flying in field, flying between fields and trees, hopping on trail, etc.  Number is a rough estimate (as are most in the checklist).

    We will be walking the North Pool dike as well as visiting other spots. Note that an entrance fee or pass is required. Restrooms available.
