Bald Eagle  3    2 adults eating something on the ice. 1 immature waiting for a turn. Opposite side of the river. Distant photos attached.

Snow Bunting  1    A male found by Donna. The bird was standing on the cement edge of the boat ramp. Then quickly took flight. My camera could not focus on the bird as it bounced in the wind. Dark outer wings. White inner wings and tail. Terrible documentation pics attached. First of year for me!

Horned Grebe  1    Very close to the shore at Lot 1 Beach.
Mourning Dove  2    In a tree roadside. The S-curves.
Sanderling  20    Mixed in with a flock of Dunlins just south of the Lot 1 Beach.
Dunlin  20    Mixed in with a flock of Sanderlings just south of the Lot 1 Beach.
alcid sp.  1    Small black and white bird. Way out in the ocean. Diving often enough to drive us all crazy.

Northern Harrier  2    Hunting over the marsh and over the dunes. Photos attached.

Red-tailed Hawk  1    At first we thought we saw another Rough-legged Hawk, turned out to be a Red-tailed Hawk. Hovering over the marsh, near the Warden’s Maintenance Area. Photos attached.
Rough-legged Hawk  1    Hovering over the marsh opposite Lot 1 parking lot. Close to the gatehouse. Bird flew behind the bathrooms building and disappeared.
American Crow  2
Horned Lark  4    Foraging the marsh grass that’s been flattened in the road.
European Starling  200    Large murmuration. Flying in an amoeba like way, as they crossed the marsh.
Hermit Thrush  1    I nearly had to grip hold of the OJ handle when Carol M. spotted this bird. ;-)
American Robin  9
American Tree Sparrow  17    Some of these were seen at The Wardens. But, most were seen roadside.

    We will visit both of these areas. The walking is fairly easy along fire roads, gravel trails, and woodland trails. No restroom facilities.

  • Evening Walk at Minute Man NHP

    Minute Man NHP - Brooks Village Brooks Village, Concord, MA, United States

    This area is great for late migrants and nesting species. Baltimore Oriole, Rose-breasted Grosbeak, and Cedar Waxwing are regulars. Alder Flycatcher and Common Nighthawks are possible. This is a one-mile walk on paved paths and boardwalk. Insect repellent suggested.

  • Pop-up Prothonotary Warbler Trip (register please) at Great Meadows National Wildlife Refuge, Concord

    Concord - Great Meadows Concord Unit, Entrance Rd, Concord, MA, United States

    This is a pop-up field trip to try for the Prothonotary Warbler that has been at Great Meadows for more than a week now. Please register by emailing the trip leader to avoid too large a group. No guarantee the bird will still be there but that will be our focus. It's a great birding

  • Dunback Meadow, Lexington

    Lexington - Dunback Meadow Clark Middle School 17 Stedman Rd., Lexington, MA, United States

    Our target birds will be late migrants including Mourning Warbler and flycatchers. Be prepared to walk three to five miles. Cosponsored with Menotomy Bird Club.
