loon sp.  1    Possibly the recently reported Pacific Loon. We immediately ruled out Common Loon because the size and shape was too small. The Loon had a light colored throat and at times held it’s rounded head more upright, almost “cobra” like. Others had seen this Loon closer to shore shortly before we arrived and felt it was the Pacific Loon. However, it had moved further out, so even in the scope we could not make out the chin strap.
