Comments:     Brookline Bird Club trip with John Nelson and I leading. Rainy forecast did not materialize and though there were a few sprinkles, it was mostly dry, mild and overcast. 40degrees the Harbor was glass like in the AM, wind did pick up some as morning wore on.

Common Murre  1     On grass on side of road. Basic plumage. Dark upperparts (brown / pale black), nape and crown. White face with post-ocular line extending back across ear coverts. Sharp, pointed bill. Underparts white, with smudgy flanks. White tips to secondaries.

Iceland Gull (glaucoides/kumlieni)  1     Adult. Apparent glaucoides(?) although kumlieni reported to have entirely white wing tips too.
GLGU eliminated based on rounded head structure, small(er) bill, long primary projection. Smaller than nearby HERG. Seen briefly on water (couldn’t see orbital color) and then in flight as departed pond.

Common/Thick-billed Murre  1     Probably TBMU. Lighting average. Black murre (no hint of brown visible, which I’d expect on COMU), with clean white flanks. Dark head, no white in the face. Pointed bill, and lacking heavy bill of RAZO. In flight, didn’t see on water.

Squantum – Quincy

Quincy - Squantum - Moswetuset Hummock Quincy, MA, United States

We'll check the marshes and the mudflats in Squantum for shorebirds, starting at Moswetuset Hummock and visiting other spots nearby.
