Unless otherwise stated, BBC field trips and webinars are open to all participants and are free to attend. Most field trips do not need preregistration though all webinars do. Led by DCR Park Staff. Come observe the beautiful details of birds and their behaviors and share observations with others in the group. Pose questions and memories that observations elicit. Birds we expect to see include resident gulls, Common Eider and perhaps arriving White-winged Scoters. Ages: adults and children 8 years + with an adult

The BBC is partnering with the Captain John's Whale Watching Tour Company to travel to Stellwagen Bank - primary feeding grounds for the Humpback Whale, the endangered Right Whale, and other marine wildlife, including seabirds. We will walk slowly looking for rails, shorebirds, wading birds, and migrating Common Nighthawks. The first portion of the walk is .6 miles round trip. Those to wish to join us on an extended walk with permission to enter private property, to look for Night-Herons. Note that entrance fee or pass is required.
Led by DCR staff. We will search on foot up to one mile, on flat, easy terrain for large groups of herons and egrets, common and rare shorebirds. This is a traveling program by car or bike. Approximately 1.5 mile walk along an old railbed and through forest to the marsh edge in search of American and Least Bittern, and other wetland species such as Virginia Rail, Sora, Marsh Wren, raptors, herons, egrets, and blackbirds. If time permits we may also walk the Partridge Island trail nearby. All skill levels welcome. Terrain
We will spend the morning walking 3-4 miles through fields, forests and wetlands looking for post-nesting birds and early migrants. Contact leader the night before in case of rain prediction. No restrooms are available. Bring sunscreen and insect repellent. Be prepared for poison ivy.
Beginners encouraged. A two-hour walk over easy to moderate trails in search of seasonal specialties. Boots advisable. Co-sponsored by DCR.
Enjoy the late afternoon colors and birds at PRNWR at a slow and easy pace as we search refuge hotspots for shorebirds and waders, as well as tree swallows and other regular species. Short walks on flat trails. Insect repellents highly recommended. Entrance fee or pass is required. Restrooms available.
Join us to observe resident birds and spring migrants in a unique urban habitat that hosts many bird species. A BNC naturalist will help us find and identify birds through field marks, sounds, and behaviors. The walk is suitable for all levels of birders (novice to advanced). The trails are flat and easy to walk.
