Great Meadows NWR, Concord (CANCELLED)
Due to snow, the trails are difficult, the parking lot is closed, and parking outside the refuge is limited and tricky. Cancelling this event. There will be more Great Meadows walks in the future.
Unless otherwise stated, BBC field trips and webinars are open to all participants and are free to attend. Most field trips do not need preregistration though all webinars do. We're cancelling for a number of reasons. The walkways are in terrible condition, varying from deep snow to icy paths. Weather looks iffy for Saturday. Also, two of the leaders are unavailble. We are considering finding a day later in March for a last-of-season trip to Deer Island. If we do, we'll post it and
Due to the the amount of snow still around we are rescheduling this to Saturday March 28. Also, we didn't mean to conflict with the Mass Aubudon Birders Meeting on March 14.
Visit Arlington Reservoir and the adjacent Lexington Community Farm to search for late winter lingerers and early migrants. Cosponsored with Menotomy Bird club.
We scheduled this trip too early. It was a mistake in retrospect. We are cancelling this trip. The birding will get better in mid to late April. We have trips in May and June that will be in prime season for this location.
Adding a trip to make up for the cancellations and to grab the chance of some late winter birding. The paths should all be fine now. It will probably be colder than you expect on the water since there's not much shelter from any wind that is blowing. We will search for wintering ducks, Loons,
