Allens Pond Mass Audubon Sanctuary, Dartmouth
We will hike the Beach Loop and Quansett Trail. Mostly flat trails, but a mix of sandy, rocky, and muddy areas. We will look for migrants and breeders in a variety of habitats. If there is further interest we will continue to other nearby areas for any specialty species of interest.
Franklin Park – Scarboro Pond
We will look for warblers, orioles, and other migratory birds in the Scarboro Pond section of Franklin Park. Beginners welcome and encouraged. Expect to walk up to two miles on paved paths. Co-sponsored with the Franklin Park Coalition, Franklin Park Tennis Association, and the Emerald Necklace Bird Club. Limited number of loaner binoculars available.
Halibut Point State Park, Rockport
A two-hour walk, about 1.5 miles, over easy to moderate gravel roads and trails in search of seasonal specialties. Boots advisable. Restrooms are available. Residents and Migrants at Appleton Farms
Appleton Farms provides a unique blend of grassland, mixed forest, and wetland habitats that are home to a wide diversity of breeding birds. This leisurely hike will cover about three miles of easy, relatively flat terrain. Some species we are likely to see/hear include Eastern Bluebird, Bobolink, and Savannah Sparrow. Weston Station Pond Rookery
Discover a Weston hot-spot featuring a Great Blue Heron rookery accessible by public transportation. The walk offers excellent chances for spring migrants, raptors, nesting Eastern Bluebirds and various waterfowl. Beginners welcome. Leader will pre-walk the route to scout for arriving species each session.

Fenway Victor Gardens
Please join us for a walk around Boston’s beautiful and historic Fenway Victory Gardens in search of late migratory and resident birds. The garden’s grass walkways are generally even, and can be muddy in spots.
Millennium Park
Join us to observe resident birds and spring migrants in a unique urban habitat that hosts many bird species and is an excellent location for finding rarities. A BNC naturalist will help us find and identify birds through field marks, sounds, and behaviors. The walk is suitable for all levels of birders. The trails are
Plymouth Airport for grassland sparrows
With permission from the airport manager, we will be allowed to go inside the second fence line onto the airport, closed to the general public, in search of the grassland birds which nest at the airport. Note: This trip can be cancelled at any time, without notice, for homeland security reasons! Target endangered breeding species:
Forest River Conservation Area
Easy to moderate 1.5 mile hike on 26 acre property which includes marsh, tidal pools, upland fields and woods. Expect to see various warblers, sparrows and Vireos. Wear hiking boots for modest uphill and downhill paths with some mud.
