THIS TRIP HAS BEEN POSTPONED TO SUNDAY OCTOBER 1 - A two mile walk on (mostly) paved paths around the pond. In addition to the “usual suspects”, we are likely to see some of the fall warblers, plus possibly a few of the Weird Ducks that have started to arrive.

We will be birding the Beach Loop, Quansett Trail, and Allen's Neck Trails of Allen's Pond Wildlife Sanctuary in search of migrant passerines in the thickets and ocean and marsh birds. Can be combined with Gooseberry Neck.

We will walk the farm road and the mowed paths along the wood edge looking for migrants. After birding for an hour or so, we’ll walk up together to meet the banders at Manomet Headquarters. Let's take a look at gulls! Gulls take 3 to 4 years to reach adult plumage. And in each year, there's a winter and a summer plumage. Which means, we get to see six to eight different versions of each species. And THAT is what makes gulls so much fun to identify! Free on-street parking. [...]

We will walk about 1.5 miles on gravel paths in search of late fall sparrows. This is usually a good spot for Lincoln’s and Clay-colored Sparrows. We never know what else might show up.  I will arrive early to listen for Great Horned Owls.
