Unless otherwise stated, BBC field trips and webinars are open to all participants and are free to attend. Most field trips do not need preregistration though all webinars do. Trying for 50 species again this year, we’ll be walking about a mile and a half, mostly staying on pavement. We’ll be looking and listening for swamp breeders, including Green Heron, Brown Creeper, Northern Waterthrush, and Blue-gray Gnatcatcher. We will walk on fairly level gravel roads for 3 miles looking for breeding birds including Field Sparrow, Indigo Bunting, and Prairie Warbler. Co-sponsored with the Menotomy Bird Club. No restroom facilities.
We will explore various locations on the Refuge in search of breeding birds. Note that entrance fee or pass is required. Restrooms available.
We will walk the fire road to the dike separating Hatches Harbor from the airport which leads out to both the harbor and Race Point. Gulls, terns, waterfowl, raptors, and passerines are among expected species. The occasional rarity is always possible in this unique habitat. Low tide is 9:55 AM. There could be wet conditions
