Unless otherwise stated, BBC field trips and webinars are open to all participants and are free to attend. Most field trips do not need preregistration though all webinars do.     East Boston - Belle Isle Parking Lot 1399 Bennington Street, Boston, MA, United States

    Led by DCR staff. We will search on foot up to one mile, on flat, easy terrain for snowy owls and other raptors, native sparrows, finches, waterfowl, and other birds. This is a traveling program by car or bike. Prepare for ticks. Ages: Adults and kids 8 years+ with adult chaperone. Binoculars recommended. ADA/Reasonable Accommodations

  • Bear Creek Sanctuary (on behalf of Soheil Zendeh and WINWaste)

    Saugus - Bear Creek Sanctuary (WINWaste) 100 Salem Turnpike, Saugus, MA, United States

    Bear Creek is an upland sanctuary built on the WINWaste (formerly Wheelabrator) landfill at the northeast corner of Rumney Marsh in Saugus and Revere. Access information is below. Wear waterproof walking shoes and be prepared to hike 3 – 4 miles. The property is mostly very open, so be prepared for sun, wind and weather.

  • Woodcocks at Meriam’s Corner (rescheduled from 3/5)

    Concord - Meriam's Corner 751 Lexington Rd, Concord, MA, United States

    American Woodcocks are regular visitors to the fields of Minute Man NHP each spring. Listen and watch for this unusual bird's courtship display. We will walk about 1/2 mile on boardwalk and wide trail but woodcocks can often be heard and seen from the parking lot and participants may elect to stay in that area.

    Offered by Menotomy Bird club. Join us at sunset as we listen and look for the mating sky dance of the American Woodcock. Activity should begin around 7:00 p.m. and last for about an hour - flashlight recommended; please no dogs. Meet at the Trustees Picnic Area near the Airplane Field (NOT the Soccer Field).

    Join a fun, easy and relaxed afternoon search for winter search for ocean birds, winter shore birds, raptors and early migrants. We will visit viewing areas along the ocean as well as the Hellcat boardwalks. Leader will have scope and hot chocolate! for sharing. Restrooms available.
