Unless otherwise stated, BBC field trips and webinars are open to all participants and are free to attend. Most field trips do not need preregistration though all webinars do.   • Plum Island PRNWR

    Parker River NWR - Lot #1 Refuge Rd., Newbury, MA, MA, United States

    Enjoy the late afternoon colors and birds at PRNWR at a slow and easy pace as we search refuge hotspots for shorebirds and waders, as well as tree swallows and other regular species. Short walks on flat trails. Insect repellents highly recommended. Entrance fee or pass is required. Restrooms available.

    Mattapan - MAS Boston Nature Center 500 Walk Hill St, Mattapan, MA, United States

    Join us to observe resident birds and spring migrants in a unique urban habitat that hosts many bird species. A BNC naturalist will help us find and identify birds through field marks, sounds, and behaviors. The walk is suitable for all levels of birders (novice to advanced). The trails are flat and easy to walk.

    We will walk about three miles on easy, leveled dirt paths while searching for migrant and late breeding songbirds. We will also look for late blooming wildflowers such as closed gentian with its unique deep blue-purple flowers. Rain cancels walk.

    Great Neck offers a variety of habitats in a concentrated area. This is a recipe for migrants, and the island's position in the region --sandwiched between Crane Beach and Plum Island-- is a great catchpoint for birds stopping over.   • Belle Isle Marsh Reservation & Vicinity

    Led by DCR staff. We will search on foot up to one mile, on flat, easy terrain for shorebirds during their peak in migration and passerines that are beginning their southerly migration. This is a traveling program by car or bike. Prepare for mosquitoes and ticks. Ages: Adults and kids 8+ with adult chaperone. ADA/Reasonable
