Join fellow birders in their 20s-30s as we visit the Charles River Esplanade for an evening bird walk! Located in the heart of Boston, the Esplanade is a 64-acre park along the south side of the Charles River. While serving as one of Boston’s staple common areas, it is also a good spot to observe resident bird species of Massachusetts in a welcoming, urban environment.
Whether you’re a newcomer looking to start a new hobby or are a seasoned bird expert, birders of all experience levels in their 20s and 30s are encouraged to join us for a casual evening of birdwatching!
Dress for the weather conditions; bring water! While the trip will start around 6:30pm, it may still be hot out! Expect to walk approximately 3 miles on mostly paved/level paths until sundown. Bring binoculars if you have them; loaners are available on request (please email the trip leader ahead of time).
This trip is specifically dedicated to those aged 20-39 years. Please do not bring children.
Plan to meet at the entrance to Frances Appleton Bridge (pedestrian bridge) just outside of the Charles/MGH red line stop. You will be in the right location if you see wavy granite seating next to the intersection. Meeting location coordinates: (42.36091, -71.07114)
Parking is difficult around here and it is strongly recommended that you arrive via public transportation.
