Evening Walk at Minute Man NHP (RESCHEDULED to 5/29)
Due to weather conditions expected, we are rescheduling this trip until Thursday May 29.
Unless otherwise stated, BBC field trips and webinars are open to all participants and are free to attend. Most field trips do not need preregistration though all webinars do. This area is great for late migrants and nesting species. Baltimore Oriole, Rose-breasted Grosbeak, and Cedar waxwing are regulars. Alder Flycatcher and Common Nighthawks are possible. This is a one-mile walk on paved paths and boardwalk. Insect repellent suggested.
We will walk easy trails looking for shorebirds, ducks, wading birds, rails, and nesting songbirds. This is also a great time to look for butterflies and other interesting insects. Note that entrance fee or pass is required. Loaner binoculars available; please email trip leader to reserve a pair!
We will walk slowly along the dike looking for rails, shorebirds, and wading birds. The we will continue to an adjacent site where we have permission to enter private property, to look for Night-Herons. On our return, we will look for migrating Common Nighthawks! Note that entrance fee or pass is required. Loaner binoculars available;
We will start our October Big Day at Great Meadows in Concord (Monsen Rd). Please join us as we try to see as many species as we can that day. At the refuge, we will walk about 3 miles on flat easy trails we will search for a variety of birds. Note that an entrance
Due to snow, the trails are difficult, the parking lot is closed, and parking outside the refuge is limited and tricky. Cancelling this event. There will be more Great Meadows walks in the future.
Due to the the amount of snow still around we are rescheduling this to Saturday March 28. Also, we didn't mean to conflict with the Mass Aubudon Birders Meeting on March 14.
Due to weather, this trip is rescheduled to April 16.
We will look for early migrants, waterfowl, and waders. Conditions may be wet; boots advised. Note that an entrance fee or pass is required.
We will kick off our Big Day at Pine Hill Grasslands targeting grassland sparrows and other birds. We will walk at least 2.5 miles round trip, possibly more (leaving early is possible).
