Unless otherwise stated, BBC field trips and webinars are open to all participants and are free to attend. Most field trips do not need preregistration though all webinars do. Scusset Beach State Reservation
Co-sponsored with Cape Cod Bird Club. We'll spend the morning checking the thickets on the wooded trails for fall migrants, walking the bike path along the canal where wintering waterfall should just be coming in and exploring the campground area. Hellcat at Parker River NWR
During the past few years the refuge has opened the dike to hiking during National Wildlife Refuge Week. We will plan to do that hike if the dike is again open this year. Otherwise we hike the boardwalk and normal dike area.
Arlington Reservoir
In the fall water levels are lowered creating good conditions for ducks and shorebirds. We will also visit the adjacent Lexington community farm. Fruitlands Museum, Harvard
We will look for fall migrants and resident birds. Expect to walk about 2 miles on trails through meadow and woods, with some steep sections. Heavy rain cancels the trip.
Nahanton Park, Newton and possible other nearby locations
We will search for sparrows and other fall migrants at Nahanton Park and a possible other location to be determined nearer the date of the trip.
An Oasis for Birds at Belle Isle Marsh
Join DCR park staff for a relaxed, one-mile bird walk through flat, easy terrain at this Massachusetts State Reservation and birding hot spot.
