Unless otherwise stated, BBC field trips and webinars are open to all participants and are free to attend. Most field trips do not need preregistration though all webinars do. We will walk about three miles on easy, leveled dirt paths while searching for migrant and late breeding songbirds. We will also look for late blooming wildflowers such as closed gentian with its unique deep blue-purple flowers. Rain cancels walk.

Great Neck offers a variety of habitats in a concentrated area. This is a recipe for migrants, and the island's position in the region --sandwiched between Crane Beach and Plum Island-- is a great catchpoint for birds stopping over. Shorebirds and waders (tide-depending) gather in Plum Island Sound. Early songbird migrants drop into the woods
Led by DCR staff. We will search on foot up to one mile, on flat, easy terrain for shorebirds during their peak in migration and passerines that are beginning their southerly migration. This is a traveling program by car or bike. Prepare for mosquitoes and ticks. Ages: Adults and kids 8+ with adult chaperone. ADA/Reasonable
Join us to observe resident birds and early fall migrants in a unique urban habitat that is a favorite for many bird species, including uncommon and rare birds. A BNC naturalist will help us find and identify birds through field marks, sounds, and behaviors. Birders of all levels will enjoy these guided walks; beginning birders
Beginners and those with limited mobility welcome. There is an entrance fee for Parker River NWR.
We will be looking for Shorebirds and Fall migrants. We will drive and walk to various places on the Refuge. Note that an entrance fee or pass is required. Restrooms available.
We will walk along the Charles River Esplanade from the Longfellow Bridge upriver looking for birds on both land and water. We hope to see a range of fall migrants as well as year round residents. We will watch the fall migration rise and fall at a suburban park location,over the span of seven weeks: Warblers give way to sparrows. Easy walk near garden plots, along the Charles, and through woods. Waterproof shoes recommended. Canceled if steady rain. Portapotty available.
Led by DCR Park Staff. Come observe the beautiful details of birds and their behaviors and share observations with others in the group. Pose questions and memories that observations elicit. Birds we expect to see include resident gulls, Common Eider and perhaps arriving White-winged Scoters. Ages: adults and children 8 years + with an adult
