Unless otherwise stated, BBC field trips and webinars are open to all participants and are free to attend. Most field trips do not need preregistration though all webinars do. Quabbin Reservoir

Quabbin Reservoir - Gate 10 235 Daniel Shays Hwy, Pelham, MA, United States

Join Glenn on a 5-to-6-mile walk through a very birdy area with species ranging from Broad-winged Hawk to Yellow-bellied Sapsucker, Blue-headed Vireo, Chestnut-sided Warbler, Scarlet Tanager, Baltimore Oriole, and lots of stuff in between. Birch Hill WMA

Royalston - Birch Hill WMA Royalston, MA, United States

Includes three to five miles of walking relatively flat terrain. Might include some bushwacking. Driving on hard packed dirt roads.

Squantum – Quincy

Squantum - Mosswetusset Hummock East Squantum Street, Quincy, MA, United States

We'll check the marshes and the mudflats in Squantum for shorebirds, starting at Mosswetusset Hummock and visiting other spots nearby. At high tide around 10:00 am, we'll try checking the high tide roosts for shorebirds as well. Be prepared for the possibility of biting insects. Cosponsored with South Shore Bird Club.

A total of 70 species is routine on this trip. We should be able to find a combination of land birds, freshwater ducks, and ocean birds with relatively little driving. Co-sponsored with the South ShoreBird Club.

Come watch American Woodcock display behavior. Water-resistant shoes helpful, but not needed.

Wompatuck State Park, Hingham

Be prepared for a three-mile walk. Our target birds will be Pileated Woodpecker, Winter Wren and a variety of warblers including Louisiana Waterthrush.
