We will search for wintering seabirds, alcids, and Iceland Gulls. Be prepared for cold and wind and dress very warmly. Depending on conditions, we will walk up to 2.6 miles on paved paths. Port-a-potties available midway and near the parking area. Beginners welcome and encouraged.
Update: Based on other locations, we will be walking in packed snow with a lot of sheer ice in places. Please consider winter boots and traction aids such as yaktrax or exospikes or other similar traction aids and expect that the walking will not be nearly as easy as it would be on pavement. The leader plans to do the walk on schedule.
The start time is timed to the tides.
Update: The leader expects to go as far as the beach where Iceland Gull is most likely and then turn back due to the snow and ice on the paths. Many nice sea ducks, gulls, and other nice birds will be seen. the midway porta potties will be available.
