Unless otherwise stated, BBC field trips and webinars are open to all participants and are free to attend. Most field trips do not need preregistration though all webinars do. Delaney WMA in Stow is an Important Bird Area with a variety of habitats, including a shallow lake, a slow-running stream and a marsh, all bordered by mixed conifer/deciduous forest. We’ll go for a slow-paced 2-to-3 mile walk along trails with moderate terrain changes to see how many species we can find.
We will explore various hot-spots on the refuge for fall migrants. Anything is possible during fall migration! Note that an entrance fee or pass is required to enter Parker River NWR. We will likely walk 3 or 4 miles on mostly flat trails through sanctuary woodlands and wetlands. Be prepared for some trails being wet, muddy, or rutted. Also take precautions against ticks. There is a small fee required if you are not a member of Mass Audubon. Restrooms open from 8:00 AM.
A two-hour walk, about 1.5 miles, over easy to moderate gravel roads and trails in search of seasonal specialties. Boots advisable. Restrooms are available. In case of inclement weather check with leader the night before trip.

We will visit several different water bodies in Essex County in attempting to see as many as 25 different species of Ducks and Geese. There will be some walking. We will end up at the Parker River National Wildlife Refuge. Note that an entrance fee or pass is required to visit Parker River NWR.
