At Belle Isle and at additional nearby locations— We’ll search for shorebirds during their peak in migration and passerines that are beginning their southerly migration. Participants are responsible for their own transportation between locations (by car or bike). Binoculars are recommended\, and don’t forget to protect yourself from ticks and mosquitoes. Suitable for adults and children ages 8 and up (with an accompanying adult). SUMMARY:Belle Isle Marsh Reservation
DESCRIPTION:Join us to observe resident birds and winter migrants in a unique urban habitat that is a favorite for many bird species\, including uncommon and rare birds. Birders of all levels will enjoy this walk. The trails are (generally) flat. A water bottle\, water proof clothing including a hat\, gloves\, and trail shoes are recommended. Binoculars may be available for loan on a first-come\, first-served basis. Porta-potties are usually available at this location. \nThe walk is free but pre-registration is required as walk sizes are limited. Please register by emailing neil.calabro1@mac.com. \nMeeting spot: Main Entrance in the vicinity of the parking lot on 1399 Bennington Street\, East Boston. \nPublic transportation: MBTA Blue Line to Suffolk Downs. Exit station onto Bennington Street\, cross street (crossing signal available at crosswalk outside of station)\, and turn left. Walk about five minutes\, Entrance to the reservation will be on your right.
