SUMMARY:Pine Hill Road Grassland
DESCRIPTION:In June\, this wonderfully preserved grassland is alive with the songs of breeding Grasshopper and Vesper Sparrow\, which are state listed as endangered species. Prairie Warbler\, Indigo Bunting\, and American Kestrels nest regularly here as well. A mile walk on level grade; can be dry so bring water.

DESCRIPTION:Join us for a 7 day exploration of the mountains and lakes of western Maine! SUMMARY:Downeast Maine Puffin and Warblers trip
DESCRIPTION:Join us on our annual trip to Machias area in Downeast Maine to see Atlantic Puffins\, Razorbills\, Common Murres\, and Arctic Terns. We also tour beautiful coastlands and boreal forests in search of nesting warblers and other species. We explore the blueberry barrens \, and coastal wetlands for other species such as Sandhill Crane\, Black Terns\, Nelson’s Sparrow\, Upland Sandpiper\, and potential rarities.\nNOTE ON LIMITED MOBILITY: We don’t have any technical or rugged hiking\, however we are on our feet a lot looking for boreal species\, which can add up to several miles of walking per day. The boat landing on Machias can be slippery and treacherous\, but participants can safely stay on the boat and still encounter all the breeding birds at close range if they are concerned about the landing. \nThis trip is limited to 15 participants. SUMMARY:Millennium Park
DESCRIPTION:Join us to observe resident birds and spring migrants in a unique urban habitat that hosts many bird species and is an excellent location for finding rarities. A BNC naturalist will help us find and identify birds through field marks\, sounds\, and behaviors. The walk is suitable for all levels of birders (novice to advanced). The trails are mostly flat and easy to walk and we may walk about 1.5 miles. Millennium usually has water & portapotties near the athletic fields. Participants should wear waterproof footwear and bring sunblock\, insect repellent\, water\, and hats. \nThe walk is free but all participants must pre-register by emailing cgeorge@massaudubon.org and copying neil.calabro1@icloud.com.  Please note that participants must be at least 13 years of age and outings are limited to 30 people. \n

SUMMARY:Early Morning at Lynnfield Marsh
DESCRIPTION:Approximately 1.5 mile walk along an old railbed and through forest to the marsh edge in search of American and Least Bittern\, and other wetland species such as Virginia Rail\, Sora\, Marsh Wren\, raptors\, herons\, egrets\, and blackbirds. If time permits we may also walk the Partridge Island trail nearby. All skill levels welcome. Terrain can be uneven and muddy with overgrowth on trail. Insect repellents a must for ticks and mosquitos. No restrooms. Rain cancels.

SUMMARY:Crane WMA Evening Walk
DESCRIPTION:This unique grassland habitat is host to a rich variety of species\, including Eastern Meadowlark\, Grasshopper Sparrow\, Bobolink\, American Kestrel\, and possibly Blue Grosbeak. We will focus on observing the meadowlarks and Grasshopper Sparrows for signs of breeding; especially carrying food and recent fledglings.  We will finish up with listening for Eastern Whip-poor-wills call in the surrounding pine barrens after sunset.
