SUMMARY:An Oasis for Birds at Belle Isle Marsh
DESCRIPTION:Join DCR park staff for a relaxed\, one-mile bird walk through flat\, easy terrain at this Massachusetts State Reservation and birding hot spot. At Belle Isle and at additional nearby locations— We’ll search for shorebirds during their peak in migration and passerines that are beginning their southerly migration. Participants are responsible for their own transportation between locations (by car or bike). Binoculars are recommended\, and don’t forget to protect yourself from ticks and mosquitoes. Suitable for adults and children ages 8 and up (with an accompanying adult). SUMMARY:Arlington Reservoir
DESCRIPTION:In the fall water levels are lowered creating good conditions for ducks and shorebirds. We will also visit the adjacent Lexington community farm. Birds are found feasting on the remains of the crops planted there. We will walk about a mile on wide paths and some uneven ground (possibly muddy). Note that the reservoir area is a public park and people walk dogs here frequently. Cosponsored with Menotomy Bird Club.

DESCRIPTION:Join us to look for birds in a unique urban habitat that often draws numerous uncommon and rare birds.Target birds include bluebirds\, bobolinks\, egrets\, flycatchers & kingbirds\, grosbeaks\, hawks\, herons\, kingfishers\, owls\, rails\, ravens & crows\, sandpipers\, swallows & swifts\, vultures\, warblers\, and woodpeckers. Birders of all levels will enjoy this trip. The trails are flat and easy to walk. We may offer optional 30-60 minute trip extensions to adjacent locations such as West Roxbury High School Marsh and/or Brook Farm. \nThe walk is free but preregistration is required. Please preregister by emailing neil.calabro1@mac.com. Registration is limited to 20 people. Be sure to wear a hat and waterproof footwear and pack water. Insect repellent and sunblock are recommended.

DESCRIPTION:A nice little city park on the Charles River that flies under the radar. Duck boats\, skate park\, and good transit connections make it lively\, but there’s good green space along the river\, and a decent number of species show up here. It’s underbirded\, so who knows what might show up? Expect to walk on flat\, paved paths with no elevation gain. Walk will probably be one to two km.
