SUMMARY:Weston Station Pond and nearby Mass Central Rail Trail
DESCRIPTION:A “hidden gem”\, a good variety of birds\, a Great Blue Heron colony\, good chance of Indigo Bunting\, and other choice bird species (no guarantees). We’ll walk along Weston Station Pond and then on the bike trail westward as far as the old station\, then return by the same route. Expect to walk about 3 miles in total on easy wide trails and paved bike path (more than half on the bike path). Could be muddy on trails. There are no restrooms available at this location. SUMMARY:Urban Birding\, Lowell
DESCRIPTION:You don’t always need to be in the woods\, mountains\, or at the shore to find birds. Many of these adaptable creatures find urban settings quite hospitable. We will walk along the rivers\, canals\, and islands of green in the mill city looking for breeding birds as they go about their business of raising the next generation of birds. This two-hour walk is suitable for beginners and will be over mainly flat and paved surfaces but may cover two miles or more on foot.
