We will search on foot up to one mile\, on flat\, easy terrain for Osprey\, breeding and migrating passerines\, American Oystercatcher\, and other specialty shorebirds at this birding hotspot and state Park. Expect to move to different locations by car or bicycle. Program is often not MBTA accessible. Prepare for mosquitoes and ticks. SUMMARY:Assabet River National Wildlife Refuge\, North Gate Entrance
DESCRIPTION:Explore the bird diversity of the Assabet River National Wildlife Refuge.  We walk along White Pond Rd (Trail)\, searching for both resident and migrant songbirds and raptors. Some notable species previously observed at this location include Cooper’s Hawk\, Barred Owls\, and numerous species of warblers and other migratory songbirds. The habitat is mostly forested\, with some wetlands\, fields and scrubs along the way. The terrain is mostly flat and leveled\, mix if pavement and sand and gravel. Cosponsored and led by US Fish & Wildlife Service staff.

We will look for resident species including Indigo Bunting\, Savannah Sparrow\, Hermit Thrush\, Scarlet Tanager\, Veery\, Blue-headed Vireo\, Wild Turkey\, American Kestrel\, and a variety of warblers. Expect to walk about two miles on trails through meadows and woods\, with some steep sections. Prepare for ticks. DESCRIPTION:We will look for warblers\, vireos\, orioles\, and other spring migrants in the northern section of Franklin Park\, covering the Overlook Ruins\, White Stadium\, the Bear Dens\, and the Playstead.
