SUMMARY:Pop-up Prothonotary Warbler Trip (register please) at Great Meadows National Wildlife Refuge\, Concord
DESCRIPTION:This is a pop-up field trip to try for the Prothonotary Warbler that has been at Great Meadows for more than a week now. Please register by emailing the trip leader to avoid too large a group. No guarantee the bird will still be there but that will be our focus. It’s a great birding spot and we’ll see and hear other good birds. This trip will not cover the entire refuge. We’ll go directly to the spot where we hope to spot the Prothonotary Warbler with some stops along the way and birding as we go. We’ll return by the woods making a loop. \nIf you plan to go\, please register by sending an email\, and if you later decide not to go\, please send an email to cancel. If we are too full\, I’ll let you know and of course keep a waitlist. \nNote that entrance fee or pass is required. Duck stamps and entrance passes are accepted.

SUMMARY:Belle Isle Marsh & Winthrop Beach (Early Birders Series)
DESCRIPTION:Join fellow birders in their 20s-30s as we visit Belle Isle Marsh & the nearby Winthrop/Revere area! Nestled between Orient Heights\, Beachmont\, and Winthrop\, the salt marsh of Belle Isle is host to a wide variety of unique bird species. As we navigate the northern portion of the park\, expect to see your typical songbirds & coastal birds\, but also shorebirds and other migrants. There’s no other place like it! Following our time at Belle Isle\, we plan to carpool to the nearby beaches at Winthrop and/or Revere for more shorebirding action! If we’re lucky\, we will get to observe Piping Plovers nesting on the beaches! \nWhether you’re a newcomer looking to start a new hobby or are a seasoned bird expert\, birders of all experience levels in their 20s and 30s are encouraged to join! Hope to see you there! \nMake sure to dress in clothes that cover your skin to avoid mosquito bites; bring water & bug spray! The mosquitos at Belle Isle can be nasty! Expect to walk approximately 3 miles on mostly level paths & beaches. Binoculars are highly recommended. If you need loaner binoculars\, they are available upon request (please email the trip leader ahead of time). Port-a-potties are available at the meeting location. \nThis trip is specifically dedicated to those aged 20-39 years. Please do not bring children. \nPlan to meet in the parking lot of Belle Isle Marsh off of Bennington St at 9 AM (1399 Bennington St\, Boston\, MA 02128). Meeting location coordinates: 42.39166\, -70.99370. \nParking is free at this section of the park. In the event the parking lot is full\, the Suffolk Downs T station down the street has parking. As we navigate Winthrop/Revere after Belle Isle\, there is available parking on most streets (but pay attention to signage). We encourage carpooling and will be carpooling those who are interested.

SUMMARY:Bring Back Boblinks: Bobolinks at Ocean View Farm Reserve
DESCRIPTION:Part of our Bring Back Boblinks conservation series. \nCo-led by Linda Vanderveer\, Land Manager\, DNRT. A combined walk with Brookline Bird Club and Dartmouth Natural Resources Trust. Registration is required. Please go to https://dnrt.org/event/bobolink-walk-2/ to register. Registration opens on May 14. \nBobolinks are migratory grassland birds found across Massachusetts. The Bobolink is listed as a Species of Greatest Conservation Need in Massachusetts and faces global declines driven by habitat loss and early mowing practices that destroy nests\, making coordinated land management essential for its conservation. \nDNRT’s Ocean View Farm Reserve is a breeding habitat for Bobolinks. Join us as we observe them tending to their young in the fields at this scenic property. Trails are easy.
