SUMMARY:Millennium Park
DESCRIPTION:Joint with Mass Audubon BNC. Join us to observe resident birds and fall migrants in a unique urban habitat that is a favorite for many bird species\, including uncommon and rare birds. Birders of all levels will enjoy this walk. The trails are (generally) flat though there are some hills. A water bottle\, water proof clothing including a hat\, sunblock & insect repellent are recommended. \nPre-registration is required as walk sizes are limited. Please register by emailing cgeorge@massaudubon.org and copying neil.calabro1@mac.com. Be sure to mention it when registering if you will need loaner binoculars. There are only a few pairs available. \nMeeting spot directions: 300 Gardner St\, Boston\, MA. Once you arrive at the park\, turn left and then you will quickly see a small sign at the first left turn labelled Canoe Launch. Follow that road to the end. Meet in the parking lot nearest the canoe launch\, at end of lot. There is a Google map link below \nClosest MBTA bus stop is on bus #36\, VA Hospital. Approximately a 20 minute walk.

DESCRIPTION:We will walk easy trails looking for shorebirds\, ducks\, wading birds\, rails\, and nesting songbirds. This is also a great time to look for butterflies and other interesting insects.  Note that entrance fee or pass is required. Loaner binoculars available; please email trip leader to reserve a pair! If the weather doens’t look good\, contact the leaders to check status.

A water bottle\, water proof clothing including a hat\, sunblock & insect repellent are recommended. \nThis free walk is conducted jointly with Mass. Audubon Boston Nature Center and preregistration is required as walk sizes are limited. Please register by emailing neil.calabro1@mac.com. Be sure to mention it when registering if you will need loaner binoculars. There are only a few pairs available. \nMeeting spot: RPM Fitness lot\, 120 Banks St. Winthrop. There is a chain link fence with (worn out\, not easy to see) signs authorizing public parking alongside the fence. Park in front of that fence. You’ll see a sign in the far back of the lot that says Belle Isle Marsh Marine Ecology Park. Meet in front of the sign. Please don’t park in a spot that says for gym only. \nPublic transit: Nearest MBTA stop is Blue Line Orient Heights. It’s a 32 minute walk.
