SUMMARY:Breeding Bird Survey\, Plymouth Airport
DESCRIPTION:Limited participation. 5:00 – 8:00 a.m. We will be allowed to survey the entire airport grounds before the airport opens to flights to confirm as many breeding species we can. This special habitat has Upland Sandpiper\, American Kestrels\, Eastern Meadowlarks\, and Grasshopper Sparrows\, all species of special concern. Also includes pine barrens specialists like Prairie Warbler\, Field Sparrow\, Eastern Towhee\, and Brown Thrasher. Pre-registration required. Being coordinated by another group. BBC coordinator is Glenn.\nIf inclement weather\, postponed to June 20\, 2026; same time.

SUMMARY:New Member Walk at Fresh Pond\, Cambridge
DESCRIPTION:This walk is intended for new members! Get to know your fellow club members. Bring a friend if you like. \nAn easy 2-mile walk through pondside meadows and forest paths at Fresh Pond. We’ll see summer residents including breeding birds. \nWe will meet in the parking lot of the TD Bank at Fresh Pond Circle\, located at the intersection of Concord Avenue with Fresh Pond Parkway in Cambridge. If you are driving\, please see the walk leader (Thomas Michel) when you arrive to get a parking permit to place on the dashboard of your car\, and then park in the Trader Joe’s lot. If you don’t have one of these permits from Thomas\, your car may be towed. Parking is also available at the Alewife T station\, and there is limited metered street parking on Wheeler and Fawcett Streets in Cambridge and on Concord Avenue in Belmont. Fresh Pond Reservation is also accessible by T (Red Line Alewife Station) or via MBTA #74 bus.

DESCRIPTION:Cosponsored with Boxborough Birders. We will look for resident species including Indigo Bunting\, Savannah Sparrow\, Hermit Thrush\, Scarlet Tanager\, Veery\, Blue-headed Vireo\, Wild Turkey\, American Kestrel\, and a variety of warblers. Expect to walk about two miles on trails through meadows and woods\, with some steep sections. Prepare for ticks. We will bird at the meeting location for about 30 minutes so any latecomers can catch up.
