DESCRIPTION:Approximately 1.5 mile walk along an old railbed and through forest to the marsh edge in search of American and Least Bittern\, and other wetland species such as Virginia Rail\, Sora\, Marsh Wren\, raptors\, herons\, egrets\, and blackbirds. If time permits we may also walk the Partridge Island trail nearby. All skill levels welcome. Terrain can be uneven and muddy with overgrowth on trail. Insect repellents a must for ticks and mosquitos. No restrooms. Rain cancels.

SUMMARY:Crane WMA Evening Walk
DESCRIPTION:This unique grassland habitat is host to a rich variety of species\, including Eastern Meadowlark\, Grasshopper Sparrow\, Bobolink\, American Kestrel\, and possibly Blue Grosbeak. We will focus on observing the meadowlarks and Grasshopper Sparrows for signs of breeding; especially carrying food and recent fledglings.  We will finish up with listening for Eastern Whip-poor-wills call in the surrounding pine barrens after sunset.

SUMMARY:Bring Back Boblinks: Bobolinks at Heard Farm\, Wayland (Rescheduled from 5/14)
DESCRIPTION:Part of our Bring Back Bobolinks conservation series. (Rescheduled from 5/14 due to weather.) \nThis gem works its way into the rotations of many birders once discovered. It is managed for dog walking (no dogs on this walk please) and bobolinks\, which in agood year can number 100 or more. We will be using dirt trails and boardwalks. Trails can be muddy depending on recent weather. Decent luck should bring 30 to 50 species depending migration and whether all routes are accessible\, including a variety of warblers\, ducks\, waders and raptors. \nPull over if you can on Pelham Island Rd on the way to view the waders and ducks and maybe raptors in or near the pond on the left.

SUMMARY:Bring Back Boblinks: Bobolink Walk and Nature Journaling at Appleton Farms
DESCRIPTION:Part of our Bring Back Boblinks conservation series. \nBird walk from 8 – 10 am. Followed by optional sketching and nature journaling. \nLearn about our special species of concern\, the Bobolink\, during a guided walk through their breeding habitat observing field marks\, mating calls and nest building. \nThen study and appreciate these beautiful birds during a fun nature journaling/sketching session. Beginners welcome! \nBring your journal\, sketch pad\, pencils\, and stool for the journaling session. Some materials will be available if needed. \nThe location is Appleton Farm (TTOR) in Ipswich. The meeting place is the parking all the way in at the cluster of buildings in the back. Drive in the main entrance (219 County Rd\, Ipswich). Once you enter\, stay right and go all the way and all the way back to parking on the right side at the end of the road. This is paid parking ($6) if you aren’t a TTOR member. SUMMARY:Crane Wildlife Management Area\, East Falmouth
DESCRIPTION:With CCBC leading. This unique grassland habitat is host to a rich variety of species\, including Eastern Meadowlark\, Grasshopper Sparrow\, Bobolink\, American Kestrel and possibly Blue Grosbeak. When we’re done at Crane\, we can cross the road and scan Coonamessett Field for raptor activity. Those wishing to can continue on to Mass Audubon’s Ashumet Holly Wildlife Sanctuary located just minutes from Crane.
