DESCRIPTION:American Woodcocks are regular visitors to the fields of Minute Man NHP each spring. Listen and watch for this unusual bird’s courtship display. If there is still ice and snow around\,  bring yaktrax or similar traction aids. If it is warmer\, consider a water bottle\, waterproof clothing\, and a hat for protection from the sun. \nThis free walk is conducted jointly with Mass. DESCRIPTION:We’re cancelling for a number of reasons. The walkways are in terrible condition\, varying from deep snow to icy paths. Weather looks iffy for Saturday. Also\, two of the leaders are unavailble. \nWe are considering finding a day later in March for a last-of-season trip to Deer Island. If we do\, we’ll post it and announce it as widely as we can. \nWe will search for wintering seabirds\, alcids\, and Iceland Gulls. Be prepared for cold and wind and dress very warmly. Depending on conditions\, we will walk up to 2.6 miles on paved paths. Port-a-potties available midway. Beginners welcome and encouraged. Bad weather or poor walking conditions may cancel – email trip leaders if you are unsure. \nThe start time is timed to the tides. \nLeaving early is possible if you can’t be there for the whole time. You would head back before we get to the halfway point. \n

DESCRIPTION:We will search for wintering seabirds\, alcids\, and Iceland Gulls. Be prepared for cold and wind and dress very warmly. Depending on conditions\, we will walk up to 2.6 miles on paved paths. Port-a-potties available midway and near the parking area. Beginners welcome and encouraged. \nUpdate: Based on other locations\, we will be walking in packed snow with a lot of sheer ice in places. Please consider winter boots and traction aids such as yaktrax or exospikes or other similar traction aids and expect that the walking will not be nearly as easy as it would be on pavement. The leader plans to do the walk on schedule. \nThe start time is timed to the tides. \nUpdate: The leader expects to go as far as the beach where Iceland Gull is most likely and then turn back due to the snow and ice on the paths. Many nice sea ducks\, gulls\, and other nice birds will be seen. the midway porta potties will be available.

Birds are found feasting on the remains of the crops planted there. We will walk about a mile on wide paths and some uneven ground (possibly muddy). SUMMARY:Early Birders @ Charles River Esplanade
DESCRIPTION:Join fellow birders in their 20s-30s as we visit the Charles River Esplanade for an evening bird walk! Located in the heart of Boston\, the Esplanade is a 64-acre park along the south side of the Charles River. While serving as one of Boston’s staple common areas\, it is also a good spot to observe resident bird species of Massachusetts in a welcoming\, urban environment. \nWhether you’re a newcomer looking to start a new hobby or are a seasoned bird expert\, birders of all experience levels in their 20s and 30s are encouraged to join us for a casual evening of birdwatching! \nDress for the weather conditions; bring water! While the trip will start around 6:30pm\, it may still be hot out! Expect to walk approximately 3 miles on mostly paved/level paths until sundown. Bring binoculars if you have them; loaners are available on request (please email the trip leader ahead of time). \nThis trip is specifically dedicated to those aged 20-39 years. Please do not bring children. \nPlan to meet at the entrance to Frances Appleton Bridge (pedestrian bridge) just outside of the Charles/MGH red line stop. You will be in the right location if you see wavy granite seating next to the intersection. Meeting location coordinates: (42.36091\, -71.07114) \nParking is difficult around here and it is strongly recommended that you arrive via public transportation.

SUMMARY:Pawtucket Farm Wildlife Sanctuary
DESCRIPTION:Lowell Parks & Conservation Trust in association with Massachusetts Audubon\, Mill City Grows and the City of Lowell has preserved this former Christmas tree farm on Varnum Avenue with the intent of providing open space for residents and visitors to explore and enjoy. An all-persons trail ensures the property is accessible to everyone. We will look and listen for birds that also appreciate the protection of this space\, whether they are migrating to their final breeding locations or staying to spend the summer. The walk will be leisurely with some mildly hilly sections on gravel trails. Co-sponsored by the Lowell Parks and Conservation Trust and limited to 20 participants.
