DESCRIPTION:We will search for wintering seabirds\, alcids\, and Iceland Gulls. Be prepared for cold and wind and dress very warmly. Depending on conditions\, we will walk up to 2.6 miles on paved paths. Port-a-potties available midway. Beginners welcome and encouraged. A BNC naturalist will help us find and identify birds through field marks\, sounds\, and behaviors. Birders of all levels will enjoy these guided walks; beginning birders are encouraged to come! The trails are flat and easy to walk. \nDress warmly and be prepared for snow/ice\, cold\, and wind. Expect to walk approximately 1 mile on paved/level paths and trails. Port-a-potties may be available. \nThe walk is free but all participants must pre-register by emailing cgeorge@massaudubon.org and copying neil.calabro1@mac.com. SUMMARY:Winter Birds along the Concord River Greenway\, Lowell
DESCRIPTION:The Concord River in winter can be a rich spot for birds as it tumbles and meanders toward its confluence with the Merrimack. We will look for wintering ducks and gulls that use the open water for feeding and we might even see a Bald Eagle. This walk is suitable for beginners and those with limited mobility as the path is flat and paved but as this is winter\, be prepared for the weather and potentially icy/snowy footing.
