SUMMARY:Franklin Park - Scarboro Pond (Early Birders Series)
DESCRIPTION:Join fellow birders in their 20s-30s as we visit Franklin Park! Located in Roxbury\, Boston’s largest open space is home to a plethora of natural features\, including miles of trails\, playing fields\, a pond\, and plenty of birds! Here we will look for all sorts of songbirds\, including late fall migrants and early winterers. Whether you’re a newcomer looking to start a new hobby or are a seasoned bird expert\, birders of all experience levels in their 20s and 30s are encouraged to join! Hope to see you there!\nExpect to walk approximately 2 miles on mostly level paved paths. Binoculars are highly recommended. If you need loaner binoculars\, they are available upon request (please email the trip leader ahead of time). The golf course club house has public restrooms if needed.  \nThis trip is specifically dedicated to those aged 20-39 years. Please do not bring children. \nPlan to meet by the tennis courts next to the Shattuck Picnic Grove on Circuit Drive. Meeting location coordinates: 42.30043\, -71.10067. \nParking: Street parking is available nearby.\nTransit Directions: The park is accessible via bus and subway (20 minute walk to the meeting location from the Forest Hills stop on the Orange Line + 16\, 21\, and 31 bus lines stop nearby). \nIf you have any questions\, reach out to the trip leader!

DESCRIPTION:Join us to observe resident birds and winter migrants in a unique urban habitat that is a favorite for many bird species\, including uncommon and rare birds. Birders of all levels will enjoy this walk. The trails are (generally) flat. A water bottle\, water proof clothing including a hat\, gloves\, and trail shoes are recommended. Binoculars may be available for loan on a first-come\, first-served basis. \nThe walk is free but pre-registration is required as walk sizes are limited. Please register by emailing neil.calabro1@mac.com. \nMeeting spot: 300 Gardner St\, Boston\, MA. Once you arrive at the park\, turn left and then you will quickly see a small sign at the first left turn labelled Canoe Launch. Follow that road to the end. Meet in the parking lot nearest the canoe launch\, at end of lot. \nPublic Transportation: Closest MBTA bus stop is on bus #36.\, VA Hospital. Approximately a 20 minute walk.

The group will be just in front of the restaurant. \nPublic transportation: MBTA busses 9 and 11 stop near the location and run even on Sundays
