SUMMARY:Roslindale Wetlands Urban Park
DESCRIPTION:A small but mighty urban wild that offers a variety of habitat. Expect to see a variety of woodpeckers\, resident birds\, warblers\, and other migratory species\, as well as a surprise or two. The path is flat with a mix of gravel and dirt surfaces with newly added boardwalks on the wetter sections. Boots are strongly advised. A visit to nearby Peter’s Hill in the Arboretum is an option afterwards if others feel inclined.

SUMMARY:Late Spring Migrants at Minute Man NHP
DESCRIPTION:Join me at this wonderful birding spot which hosts many nesting species and migrants. Blue-winged Warbler\, American Redstart\, and Indigo Buntings are regular nesters. Each year brings a few surprises in late May. In past years\, around this date\, these have included Alder Flycatcher\, Yellow-throated Vireo\, Kentucky Warbler\, and both cuckoos. This is a one-mile walk on both paved paths and wooded trails which may be muddy.

In addition\, a Great Blue Heron rookery ensures that even if it’s a quiet day for migration that there will be something awe inspiring to look at. Expect to walk about 3 miles in total on a combination of dirt and paved trails. Dirt trails could be muddy depending on conditions. There are no restrooms available at this location.

DESCRIPTION:Discover a quiet hotspot with miles of trails and a lot of birds! The diversity of habitats in and around Weston Station Pond make it a great spot to look for migrants in May ranging from warblers to waterfowl to shorebirds to others. In addition\, a Great Blue Heron rookery ensures that even if it’s a quiet day for migration that there will be something awe inspiring to look at. Expect to walk about 3 miles in total on a combination of dirt and paved trails. Dirt trails could be muddy depending on conditions. There are no restrooms available at this location.

DESCRIPTION:Join fellow birders in their 20s-30s as we visit the Fenway Victory Gardens! Located in the Fenway neighborhood\, the historic victory gardens offer an up-close and personal opportunity to search for resident birds and migratory warblers among the community gardening plots. Despite the urban setting\, you’d be surprised at what you can find here! \nExpect to walk approximately 2 miles on level paved/dirt paths. We may encounter some mud near the community garden plots. Bring binoculars if you have them; loaners are available on request (please email the trip leader). \nThis trip is specifically dedicated to those aged 20-39 years. Please do not bring children. \nMeet at the flagpole inside the garden (near the intersection of Boylston St and Park Dr). If you have any concerns\, feel free to contact the trip leader. Meeting location coordinates: 42.34533\, -71.09386. \nMetered parking is very limited to Boylston Street or Fenway. Public transit is the preferred method of transportation.
