SUMMARY:Global Big Day Kickoff: Pine Hill Grasslands and Bolton Flats WMA
DESCRIPTION:We will visit Pine Hill Grasslands first (but meet at Bolton Flats for carpooling to Pine Hill)\, targeting grassland sparrows and warblers. We will walk at least 2.5 miles round trip but not all the way to the back of that reservation. Then off to the second stop\, Bolton Flats WMA off rt 117. There may be flooding here and very tall waterproof boots (aka Wellies\, rain boots) are likely needed. A scope would be useful\, especially at the second stop. Please email the leader (John Edmondson) if you plan to attend because there is limited parking at Pine Hill Grasslands. Early start for the big day.  In case or inclement weather forecast\, contact leader to find out about possible revised plan or cancelation.

SUMMARY:Global Big Day Kickoff: Roslindale Wetlands Urban Park
DESCRIPTION:Kicking off Global Big Day at this small but mighty urban wild that offers a variety of habitat. Expect to see a variety of woodpeckers\, resident birds\, warblers\, and other migratory species\, as well as a surprise or two. The path is flat with a mix of gravel and dirt surfaces with newly added boardwalks on the wetter sections. Boots are strongly advised. A visit to nearby Peter’s Hill in the Arboretum is an option afterwards if others feel inclined.

SUMMARY:Ipswich River Wildlife Sanctuary
DESCRIPTION:We will walk 3 to 4 miles on slightly hilly trails to check out resident species in the Sanctuary’s woodlands\, wetlands and fields. We will look for resident warblers\, Eastern Bluebirds\, up to five species of woodpeckers\, vireos\, Baltimore Orioles\, and Rose-breasted Grosbeaks. We will also spend time listening and scanning the marsh for Wood Duck\, Glossy Ibis\, Marsh Wren\, Virginia Rail\, and Sora\, with owls and woodcock possible late in the day. \nNote that a fee may be required for those who are not members of Mass Audubon.
