We will make our way down Plum Island’s Refuge Road during this late fall season, looking for and observing winter resident ducks, raptors and other birds.  We will meet at Lot 1, Parker River National Wildlife Refuge. Be prepared for cold, wintry weather!

My husband and I are planning to attend this trip. We will let you know if we have to cancel. Otherwise, we will see you on Friday in Lot 1!

I attended the field trip to Parker River NWR on November 26, 2021 lead by Geno Ellison and I had a great time! Geno did an excellent job explaining the logistics of the trip (where we were going, how long we would be at each stop, where the bathrooms were, etc.) Also, Geno has a charismatic personality and goes out of his way to make sure you feel comfortable and welcome. He gives a lot of detail about the birds so that you can identify them and he also shares his vast knowledge about the birds so that you learn a lot of background information. For example, on this trip, he went to great lengths to explain how to tell immature and mature gulls apart. I would definitely recommend this trip to anyone interested and I would enthusiastically attend another field trip offered by Geno.
