SUMMARY:Early Birders @ Mystic River Reservation (Young Adult Birding Series)
DESCRIPTION:Join fellow birders in their 20s-30s as we visit Mystic River State Reservation! Located just north of Boston in Medford\, Mystic River Reservation is a state nature reserve home to over 300 acres of space in a riverfront setting. As we navigate our way around the 2.3 mile park loop trail\, expect to see all kinds of songbirds\, sparrows\, hawks\, and other Fall migrants (warblers!). Whether you’re a newcomer looking to start a new hobby or are a seasoned bird expert\, birders of all experience levels in their 20s and 30s are encouraged to join! Let’s connect through our mutual appreciation for birds and the environment! Hope to see you there!\n\nDress for the weather conditions; bring water! Expect to walk approximately 3 miles on mostly paved/level paths. We will start in the parking lot and make our way counterclockwise around the park back to where we started. Bring binoculars if you have them; loaners are available on request (please email the trip leader ahead of time). Please be aware/respectful of cyclists that use the park.\n\nThis trip is specifically dedicated to those aged 20-39 years. Please do not bring children.\n\nPlan to meet at the parking lot adjacent to the police station at the northern portion of the park (along Rt. 16). Meeting location coordinates: 42.40421\, -71.08530.\n \nParking Directions:\nFree public parking is available at the meeting area (preferred) and at the boat house next to Blessing of the Bay Park along Shore Dr on the other side of the river (approximate 1 mile walk north to the meeting area).\n\n \nTransit Directions:\nIf you are coming from Boston\, take the Orange Line to the Wellington T stop and walk about 0.5 miles to get to the meeting location (cross the elevated walkway\, the Fellsway\, and then pass the police station to get to the parking lot). If you are coming from the north\, you can take a 100\, 108\, or 134 bus to the Fellsway @ Middlesex Ave – Wellington Circle bus stop and cross the intersection to the meeting location. Otherwise the Orange Line from Malden Center (numerous transit connections) to the Wellington stop is your best bet.\nIf you have any questions\, reach out to a trip leader!

SUMMARY:Early Birders @ Charles River Esplanade
DESCRIPTION:Join fellow birders in their 20s-30s as we visit the Charles River Esplanade for an evening bird walk! Located in the heart of Boston\, the Esplanade is a 64-acre park along the south side of the Charles River. While serving as one of Boston’s staple common areas\, it is also a good spot to observe resident bird species of Massachusetts in a welcoming\, urban environment. \nWhether you’re a newcomer looking to start a new hobby or are a seasoned bird expert\, birders of all experience levels in their 20s and 30s are encouraged to join us for a casual evening of birdwatching! \nDress for the weather conditions; bring water! While the trip will start around 6:30pm\, it may still be hot out! Expect to walk approximately 3 miles on mostly paved/level paths until sundown. Bring binoculars if you have them; loaners are available on request (please email the trip leader ahead of time). \nThis trip is specifically dedicated to those aged 20-39 years. Please do not bring children. \nPlan to meet at the entrance to Frances Appleton Bridge (pedestrian bridge) just outside of the Charles/MGH red line stop. You will be in the right location if you see wavy granite seating next to the intersection. Meeting location coordinates: (42.36091\, -71.07114) \nParking is difficult around here and it is strongly recommended that you arrive via public transportation.

DESCRIPTION:Join fellow birders in their 20s-30s for a special entry into the Early Birder series as we visit Belle Isle Marsh & the nearby Winthrop/Revere area! Nestled between Orient Heights\, Beachmont\, and Winthrop\, the salt marsh of Belle Isle is host to a wide variety of unique bird species. As we navigate the northern portion of the park\, expect to see your typical songbirds & coastal birds\, but also shorebirds and other migrants. There’s no other place like it! Following our time at Belle Isle\, we plan to carpool to the nearby beaches at Winthrop and/or Revere for more shorebirding action! If we’re lucky\, we will get to observe Piping Plovers nesting on the beaches! \nWhether you’re a newcomer looking to start a new hobby or are a seasoned bird expert\, birders of all experience levels in their 20s and 30s are encouraged to join! Let’s connect through our mutual appreciation for birds and the environment! Hope to see you there! \nMake sure to dress in clothes that cover your skin to avoid mosquito bites; bring water & bug spray! The mosquitos at Belle Isle can be nasty! Expect to walk approximately 3 miles on mostly level paths & beaches. Binoculars are highly recommended. If you need loaner binoculars\, they are available upon request (please email the trip leader ahead of time). Port-a-potties are available at the meeting location. \nThis trip is specifically dedicated to those aged 20-39 years. Please do not bring children. \nMeet in the parking lot of Belle Isle Marsh off of Bennington St at 9 AM (1399 Bennington St\, Boston\, MA 02128). Meeting location coordinates: 42.39166\, -70.99370. Google maps pin for easy navigation is below on this page. Parking is free at this section of the park. In the event the parking lot is full\, the Suffolk Downs T station down the street has parking. \nAs we navigate Winthrop/Revere after Belle Isle\, there is available parking on most streets (but pay attention to signage). We encourage carpooling and will be carpooling those who are interested. \nTransit access to the park is available via the Blue Line Suffolk Downs T stop (10 minute walk away). Please notify one of the trip leaders if you expect to carpool (so we can plan ahead).

Located in the northwest part of Cambridge\, Fresh Pond is home to 162 acres of space consisting of forests\, meadows\, wetlands\, and open water. As we navigate our way around the 2.5 mile park loop trail\, expect to see all kinds of songbirds\, waterbirds\, and spring migrants (especially warblers!) as we reach peak migration time in Massachusetts! \nIf you’re interested\, stick around afterwards and we may walk over to Mount Auburn Cemetery for more birding! \nWhether you’re a newcomer looking to start a new hobby or are a seasoned bird expert\, birders of all experience levels in their 20s and 30s are encouraged to join! Let’s connect through our mutual appreciation for birds and the environment! Hope to see you there! \nDress for the weather conditions; bring water! Expect to walk approximately 3 miles on mostly paved/level paths. Bring binoculars if you have them; loaners are available on request (please email the trip leader ahead of time). Port-a-potties are available at the ranger station on the south side of the park. \nThis trip is specifically dedicated to those aged 20-39 years. Please do not bring children. \nPlan to meet at the first intersection south of the park entrance across the street from 603 Concord Ave. You will be in the right place if you are approaching an open area (Lusitania Field). Meeting location coordinates: 42.38801\, -71.14504. \nParking is available at designated areas at the southern edge of the park (Huron Ave.)\, but this is very limited. We can recommend parking at the Alewife T station and walking 15 minutes to the meeting location. Cambridge has strict parking restrictions and you may risk your car getting towed if you park elsewhere. There are some metered/time-limited parking spots on Wheeler St\, Fawcett St\, and Concord Ave. Don’t park in store lots (risk of towing). Cambridge residents with sticker can park in the Fresh Pond parking lots.
