SUMMARY:Beaver Brook Farm\, Dracut
DESCRIPTION:Join us for a walk through various habitats such as mature woodland\, freshwater marsh\, and open fields as we look and listen for spring migrants and resident breeding birds at this beautiful piece of property preserved by the town of Dracut. We should be able to find a good variety of species that need these islands of native vegetation to fuel up on their way to their breeding grounds or to stay and raise the next generation. The trail is less than a mile in length but is uneven in spots and portions could be muddy so sturdy footwear is a must. Cosponsored by the Dracut Open Space Committee

SUMMARY:Pawtucket Farm Wildlife Sanctuary
DESCRIPTION:Lowell Parks & Conservation Trust in association with Massachusetts Audubon\, Mill City Grows and the City of Lowell has preserved this former Christmas tree farm on Varnum Avenue with the intent of providing open space for residents and visitors to explore and enjoy. An all-persons trail ensures the property is accessible to everyone. We will look and listen for birds that also appreciate the protection of this space\, whether they are migrating to their final breeding locations or staying to spend the summer. The walk will be leisurely with some mildly hilly sections on gravel trails. Co-sponsored by the Lowell Parks and Conservation Trust and limited to 20 participants. SUMMARY:Winter Birds along the Concord River Greenway\, Lowell
DESCRIPTION:The Concord River in winter can be a rich spot for birds as it tumbles and meanders toward its confluence with the Merrimack. We will look for wintering ducks and gulls that use the open water for feeding and we might even see a Bald Eagle. This walk is suitable for beginners and those with limited mobility as the path is flat and paved but as this is winter\, be prepared for the weather and potentially icy/snowy footing. DESCRIPTION:You don’t always need to be in the woods\, mountains\, or at the shore to find birds. Many of these adaptable creatures find urban settings quite hospitable. We will walk along the rivers\, canals\, and islands of green in the mill city looking for breeding birds as they go about their business of raising the next generation of birds.
